Multi-sports day – 13/6/24

We were very lucky today to have a multi-sports day with Miss Thompson from Idsall. We carried out a variety of sports and teamwork games throughout the day. Each event accumulated points and the results were announced at the end. Every child showed fantastic respect, kindness and support towards each other, which was wonderful to see.

All about the heart – 12/6/24

In science, our new topic is the circulatory system. Today, we have learnt about the role of the heart and the different chambers. We then planned and carried out an investigation to see how exercise affects heart rate. We ensured that the investigation was fair by having control variables.

World War Two Reports/ D-Day

To complete our history topic, and to commemorate the 80th anniversary of D-Day, we created non-chronological reports about World War Two. We included factual information about many different aspects of the war.

This afternoon we have been planting in our reading garden. We are working hard to make this a relaxing and enjoyable space to read.

Year 6 have been learning about the language of ratio in today’s maths lesson. They used objects to show the relationship. Next, we will move onto finding missing values and using ratio in recipes.

Trip to Cosford

We had a fantastic day at RAF Cosford as an accumulation of our World War Two History topic. We had the opportunity to spot British and German planes that were used in the Battle of Britain. Around the museum, we read and heard personal stories from men and woman who joined Bomber command and the Women’s Auxiliary Air Force.

Making Maps

This afternoon, we ventured outside to create small worlds from natural resources. We used our imaginations and a variety of materials to create our environments. Once we had photographed our creations, we drew accurate maps. In order to make our map successful, we included scale, a key and symbols.

Different Viewpoints Photography

As today is Outdoor Learning Day, we decided to look at the world around us from different perspectives. We considered what the outdoors looks like to different living things. There was some excellent photography! We hope you enjoy these lovely photos.

Thank you to the PTFA!

We would like to say a big thank you to the PTFA for our wonderful new fiction books: they are all currently being enjoyed by the children!

We made the most of the relentless rain yesterday and played table tennis indoors! These sets were also kindly given to us by the PTFA- thank you.

Friday Treat!

As a treat for working so hard this week (and for Year 6 completing their SATs), we had a picnic and afternoon at the park. A lot of fun was had by all and the sun even made an appearance for us!
