Love Reading Week
Mar 4 – Mar 7 all-day

We are delighted to share with you exciting plans that we have for next week to celebrate reading during our ‘Love Reading Week’.

Rather than holding a celebration of World Book Day, which usually involves the purchase of expensive dressing up clothes we will be holding a week-long celebration of all things bookish!

Each class will be holding daily activities to celebrate reading including workshops, reading challenges, a national inter-school quiz, reading cafes and phonic workshops. Additionally, we are thrilled to welcome visiting author Mrs Bodison (mum of our very own Miss Bodison!) who will talk to the children about her experiences of penning her own book.

We would like to extend a warm welcome to parents for the following activities:
Reading Cafes- all classes- Tuesday 5th March 2.15-3.00pm

In the meantime, we hope you’ve found time to visit our book fair and make a purchase or two!

Oak Class – Year 3/4 Swimming Sessions

Dear parents and carers,

Children in Oak class will be attending swimming sessions for 5 weeks, starting on the first Tuesday 20th February (the first week back after half term)

All sessions will take place at Newport Swimming Pool during school time.  Children will be transported to and from the venue by coach.  Sessions are fully supported with lifeguards, and we will have a qualified instructor with us as well as myself and another member of our support staff.

Pupils will require swimming costumes/trunks, towel and goggles (optional). If your child is asthmatic, then they should also have their inhaler with them when going swimming.  Please ensure that your child’s uniform and towel are clearly labelled with their name.

We will be swimming on the following dates:

Tuesday 20th February, 27th February, 5th March, 12th March, 19th March 2024

To help us organise groups, we are asking that Year 4 children please bring into school their passports from last year.

If your child has a distance badge or swims with a club outside of school, could you please also indicate on the slip below.

Kind regards,

Mrs K Lyon
